A renowned Liberian humanitarian, youth developer, and advocate, Ambassador Dr. Agnes Fortune-Cannon, has called on young people across Liberia to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to education in order to become positive change-makers in society.
Speaking to Journalists on Liberia’s Decoration Day, Dr. Fortune-Cannon urged young people not to give-up on their dreams but to surround themselves with positive individuals who will inspire them to achieve their goals.
She emphasized that her passion is to see young people actively involved in decision-making processes and national development through education and personal discipline.
According to her, empowering the youth through education remains one of the most effective ways to promote progress and sustainable development.
Dr. Fortune-Cannon also disclosed that she has spent over 20 years involved in humanitarian activities both in Liberia and beyond, providing assistance and support to vulnerable communities.
Reflecting on the origin of her humanitarian spirit, she revealed that her passion began during her childhood when her mother often encouraged her to share what she had with friends and help those in need.
Dr. Fortune-Cannon cautioned young people about the way they use social media platforms, particularly Facebook, urging them to avoid using negative language when addressing national leaders.
She noted that social media is widely followed by many influential and notable individuals, and therefore young people should use these platforms responsibly and positively.
Dr. Fortune-Cannon concluded by encouraging young people to remain disciplined, pursue education, and work towards becoming responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s development.
