— LFA Nabs Bassa Sub-Association Operation Officer With Three Months Suspension
The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has announced a three-month suspension for its Operation Officer of the Liberia Referees Association at the Liberia Football Association Bassa Chapter referee Sylvester S. Sayon, barring him from all football-related activities, effective immediately.
The decision was handed down by the association’s Referee Committee following an investigation into incidents that occurred at the conclusion of a third-division league match.
The misconduct took place at Doris Williams Stadium in Grand Bassa County, where Sayon oversaw the closing stages of the league fixture.
The LFA has not released specific details on the nature of the unprofessional behavior, but emphasized that the action was taken to uphold standards of integrity and professionalism within Liberian football officiating.
Referee Committee officials stated that the suspension aligns with the association’s disciplinary code, which outlines clear expectations for match officials at every level of the sport.
The committee noted that maintaining high standards for referees is critical to ensuring fair play and protecting the reputation of football across the country.
During the suspension period, Sayon will be ineligible to officiate any matches, participate in referee training programs, or engage in other LFA-sanctioned events.
The association confirmed that he will be required to complete additional education on professional conduct before being considered for reinstatement to active duty.
