-Getting Racers Ready for Annual Event
Monrovia-The organizers of the 2026 Liberia Marathon have announced this year’s registration opened encouraging runners from Liberia and across the world to get ready for the once in a year national event.
The Liberian National is an annual competition that features participants from across the world.
In an online registration portal on social media, the organizers said an individual can register as a person or can also register as a member of a team paying the same amount
“All registration will be done online, and you need to have access to Facebook messenger and a mobile payment account with MTN or Orange. If you have troubles with the process, please reach out to us on Facebook or email to info@liberiamarathon.org” the information posted by the organizers said.
According to them, registration for the Liberia Marathon has since been opened from September 1, 2026, onwards.
“Individual registration closes November 6, 2026, while team registration closes October 30, 2026, and registration may close early if the race is sold out before the planned closing date” the planners said on their portal.
In a tabular form, the organizers said Liberian runners will register as follows:
While non-Liberian or international runners will pay fees as follows
The organizers also said athletes with disabilities register for free of charge.
“They can register individually or be a member of a team. Participants with other disabilities who will join the footrace shall reach out to the organisers on Facebook or via email (info@liberiamarathon.org) to enjoy free registration. They can register individually or be a member of a team.
Providing the easiest way to register, the organizers said it is via Facebook Messenger. “Once you provide your information, you will be connected to Mobile Payment (MTN or Orange) to make the payment. Also, no data needed – you can access the chatbot in data-free mode” the team said.
Giving an option for those who do not have smart phones, the organizers said, “Your buddy does not have a smart phone? No problem, let them sign up on your phone and connect to their own Mobile Money account. You get their confirmation on your phone and you just screenshot it. Easy.”
They rhetorically asked, “You don’t have Mobile Money, but you do have a credit card or a PayPal Account? Sign-up here, no matter if from Liberia here or from anywhere in the world.
Talking about registration as a team, they said a team captain who will request a team can pick code sent to the person and will share it among all team members.
“Each team member will register individually via Facebook Messenger using the team code.
Please note: Registration as a team member is only possible via Facebook! The team captain will make the accumulated amount of registration fees for all team members shortly before the race” the planners said.
