Bong- Some 110 young people drowned from 22 high schools in Bong County are set to benefit from a two-month free Digital literacy and ICT skills training.
The Program runs from July to August and is initiated by the Education advocate and founder of the Liberia Student-led Chemistry Symposium Initiative, Adam Jarto Kallon.
At the launch and orientation program Saturday , July 4,2026, Mr. Kallon said the initiative was developed in response to the growing need for practical digital skills among young people in Liberia.
He acknowledged the fact that many students have limited access to quality Information Communication Technology (ICT) education, which he said continues to affect their academic performance, career opportunities, and participation in the digital economy.
Kallon said the two months training program will provide practical, hands-on instruction in computer literacy, typing skills, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email communication, online meeting platforms, internet research, digital communication, responsible social media use, Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy, online learning platforms, and digital data collection and management.
He emphasized that the free initiative is intended for students from different backgrounds to have equal access to essential digital skills that will prepare them for higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and responsible digital citizenship.
He thanked Mr. Bill McGill Jones and Senator Prince K. Moye, Sr. for their financial support towards their efforts.
Kallon encouraged the 110 participants to remain committed, attend all training sessions, complete practical assignments, and apply the knowledge they are expected to gain from the program to improve their academic and professional development.
Several participants expressed appreciation to Mr. Kallon and the Liberia Student-led Chemistry Symposium Initiative for providing such a valuable opportunity.
They described the initiative as timely and important, especially as digital skills continue to play a critical role in education and the modern workforce.
The Digital Literacy and ICT Skills Training Program forms part of the Liberia Student-led Chemistry Symposium Initiative’s broader mission to promote technology education, youth empowerment, innovation, and responsible use of digital technologies among young people across Liberia.
