There are things that appear very little, but they matter a lot.

Some of these things could appear very common but have the potential to cause your businesses to collapse, end your family happiness, turn your good health into something bad and so many more.

In today’s edition of, “A Little Thing Matters” we want to shine a light on customer services in Liberia.

I am sure that many of you have visited cook-blow shops, a restaurant, a drinking spot, arranged for a taxi cap, a  bike ride or any service that would cost you money.

Also, I want to be sure that you have had some dissatisfaction with those who provided some of the above services to you for a fee they have charged.

Unfortunately, they didn’t consider that you were a customer but thought that you were someone who had gone to beg for handouts, a kid or someone living with them.

This also makes me sure that if you received the service you wanted that day from any of the providers and were not treated well, you might have said to yourself, “From today, I will never come back here. The services here are very poor.”

Just a real example of what I am saying, I visited a “restaurant” somewhere in Monrovia.

I was very hungry. I put in an order saying, “ Yes, I will like the beans and rice.”

I waited for a few minutes with the hope that my food was ready.

After like 4-5 minutes, I made eye contact with one of the service providers. She showed me her hand to signal that I should wait a little more.

As hungry as I was, I waited patiently for a few more minutes.

Later, the lady came back and asked me in pigeon English saying, “ My brother ooo, what do you say you want again shenn?”

I was very angry and repeated my orders.

She left and came back with my food this time, without water knowing that I would need water while eating to help push my beans rice down well.

The short of the long is that I called for water, ate my food and before leaving I said, “Your service was very poor. I will never come back here again.”

Although it angered her, I said my mind. Was I wrong by the way? Just leave who was right or wrong ( laughing). Anyway, from that day, I have never gone back there to eat and I have discouraged friends from going there.

The place that people once rushed to has too many empty seats as if it is a ghost’s town because costumers have pullout.

This pullback of customers might be for some other reasons but in reality, what I think is that someone like me who experienced their poor service might think that many left and promised to never come back as I did.

Not only that experience I have had. There are many others who have poorly treated customers in my presence.

To some, it appears very little but it matters to the receivers of their actions.

It is a great deal to treat your customers with respect knowing in mind that they are your ‘bosses’ because the money they pay keeps your businesses running.

Customer service is very important so, if you are rendering any paid-for service, please treat those who buy from you with respect keeping in mind that the one time encounter could open or close doors to many opportunities.

Keep it mind that, “A Little Thing Matters.”
