Monrovia-The Association of Evangelicals of Liberia (AEL), in partnership with Generosity Pledge International and Destined for Greatness Global (D4G), has launched “Gospel Solar Lights” initiative targeting 2,000 plus pastors, church workers, evangelists, and other Christian leaders across Liberia.
The initiative was recently launched at Liberty Christian Center in Johnsonville while an appreciation dinner was held at Monrovia City Hall.
According to AEL, the gospel solar lights were distributed to Christian leaders from eight counties, including Montserrado, as part of efforts to support Christian ministries and strengthen their work in communities.
AEL Highlights Strong Response
AEL General Secretary, Rev. Stephen Varfee Jr., said the initiative received an unprecedented response from churches and individuals across the country.
Under the registration arrangement, each registered participant was allowed to bring one additional person free of charge, provided the names and contact information of the additional participants were submitted online using digital platforms.
The organization said participation was based on a first-come, first-served arrangement and that no registrations would be accepted on the day of the seminar and distribution.
Rev. Dr. Kluth Calls for 40-Day Clean and Green Campaign
Delivering the keynote address at the appreciation dinner, Rev. Dr. Brian Kluth challenged AEL and the wider Christian community to launch a 40-day Generosity and “Keep Liberia Clean and Green” Campaign.
Dr. Kluth said the proposed 40 Days campaign should demonstrate biblical principles of generosity, stewardship, service, and responsibility to communities.
He also supported the appreciation dinner and was recognized by AEL for his contribution toward the provision of more than 2,000 Gospel Solar Lights for Christian leaders and ministries across Liberia.
The launch and appreciation dinner attracted government officials, church leaders, representatives of faith-based organizations, development institutions, and other stakeholders.
In remarks, AEL President and Executive Director of CHAP, the champion of SIR Rice production in Liberia, Bishop Robert Bimba, said the proposed 40 Days generosity and clean-and-green campaign would encourage Christians to translate their faith into practical actions that improve communities and protect the environment.
Bishop Bimba urged churches to take greater responsibility for keeping Monrovia and Liberia clean by mobilizing residents and educating communities about proper sanitation and environmental stewardship.
He also called on the Government of Liberia to provide additional support to the City of Monrovia to strengthen sanitation and cleaning efforts.
Bishop Bimba said AEL is prepared to partner with the Monrovia City Government to promote a cleaner and greener capital, emphasizing that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
Sirleaf Welcomes AEL-Government Partnership
Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf welcomed AEL’s initiative and expressed appreciation for the recognition extended to her.
She also welcomed the association’s decision to collaborate with the Government of Liberia and the City of Monrovia on initiatives aimed at improving sanitation and keeping communities clean.
Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa also welcomed the initiative, stressing the importance of partnerships that contribute to cleaner communities and national development.
The appreciation dinner concluded with renewed commitments from participating institutions to strengthen collaboration and support programs aimed at improving the lives of Liberians.
AEL said the Gospel Solar Lights initiative provided by Dr. Brian Kluth of Generosity Pledge, forms part of its broader efforts to empower churches and Christian leaders while strengthening ministry activities and partnerships across Liberia.
Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, and Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa were honored for their services and contributions to Liberia.
