Bong County District seven Representatives, Foday E. Fahnbulleh has submitted to the plenary of the House of Representatives a bill seeking the establishment of the Legislative Institute of Liberia (LIL).

Upon receiving the draft bill Tuesday, the House of Representatives mandated its Joint Committees on Education and Public Administration, Good Governance, and Ways, Means and Finance to review  the draft bill and  report to Plenary within two weeks

In Rep. Fahnbulleh’s proposed legislation titled: “An Act to Establish the Legislative Institute of Liberia (LIL), he wants it be a Professional Training, Research, and Policy Institution of the Legislature.

Addressing his colleagues, Rep. Fahnbulleh stressed that the proposed institute would serve as a semi-autonomous institution aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Legislature through education, research, and policy development.

According to him, the Legislative Institute of Liberia would provide professional training opportunities for lawmakers, legislative staff, and members of the public. Additionally, the institution would conduct independent policy research and contribute to improving legislative effectiveness and institutional capacity.

Rep. Fahnbulleh further requested that the bill be formally received, read, and forwarded to the appropriate committees for timely consideration and review.
