-As CEPIL Provides Support for Cassava Production and Processing
A group under the banner Climate and Environmental Protection Initiative of Liberia CEPIL, has initiated the empowerment of over twenty-five rural women in Nimely Town Kingsville Township Lower Montserrado County, Liberia.
CEPIL is currently providing financial and material supports to the Kwakeh Multipurpose Women Agricultural Cooperative for the cultivation and processing of cassava in Nimely Town as a mean of supporting livelihood among rural women.
Speaking at the official turned over of the project to the women over the weekend in Nimely Town, CEPIL Executive Director Madam Mosiatta Faith Johnson encouraged the rural women to take ownership of the project.
She assured her institution’s commitment in supporting women initiatives especially in rural Liberia. CEPIL Executive Director further promised the KwakehMultipurpose Women Agricultural Cooperative that her institution will provide cassava processing machine which will be used to process the cassava produce into various products for value addition. The project is titled “Empowering Women and Girls through Resilient Climate Smart Agriculture; Cassava Value Addition.
For her part, the chairman person of the KwakehMultipurpose Women Agricultural Cooperative, Mrs. Hawa Morris Taigbailee, appreciated the CEPIL for the initiative. Mrs. Taigbailee disclosed that she and her team will ensure that the project yield the needed results. According to her harvests from the project will be used to economically empower the livelihood of women and expansion of the project.
