A group under the banner “HOPE Restored Foundation International” has petitioned the legislature, calling for the review and reinforcement of the gambling law, public smoking and subsequently banning of shisha, kush, and tramadol as well as the mini slot machines.
The petition was presented by the gorup’s executive director, Maxson Kapakio, who stressed the danger these things are posing on the society, especially the younger generation needs attention.
Mr. Kapakio said though President Boakai has taken action to ban shisha and tramadol through an executive order but intone that executive order is just for a time and what is needed is a legislation.
He added that with the danger these substances pose to society, it is important that a law be passed to totally prohibit the use of those substances in the society.
He at same time recommended that a law be introduced to criminalize such behavior that whosoever is involved in such criminal act should face the full weight of the law.
Receiving the petition, Sineo County District one Representative Romeo Quioh commended the group for the petition and promised that the house will do its best to ensure that the future of the younger generation are giving the best.
