‎— GBUSU-VA Tells Bassa Administration

Paynesville -The Grand Bassa University Student Union Veterans Association (GBUSU-VA) wants the recent audit report issued by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) regarding the administration of Grand Bassa County from 2018 to 2023 implemented.

‎‎Speaking on behalf of the association, the Chairman of GBUSU-VA Solomon Davis emphasized that the findings and recommendations contained in the audit report highlight the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and stronger governance systems within public institutions.‎‎

Mr. Davis expressed concern over reports of financial irregularities, weak administrative controls, procurement concerns, and governance challenges identified during the audit period.

‎‎According to the Chairman, such findings have serious implications for public trust, county development, youth empowerment, and institutional credibility.

‎‎”The people of Grand Bassa County deserve transparent and responsible leadership. Public resources intended for development must always be managed in the interest of the citizens,” the Chairman stated.‎‎

GBUSU-VA further noted that audit reports are important constitutional tools designed to strengthen governance and improve accountability rather than create political conflict.‎‎

The Association therefore calls on: County authorities and relevant national institutions to review and address the audit findings responsibly, Citizens and youth groups to remain peaceful and law-abiding: Stakeholders to support reforms that promote transparency and effective public financial management.‎‎

The Veterans Association reaffirmed its commitment to peace, democratic values, responsible leadership, and constructive civic engagement in Grand Bassa County and Liberia as a whole.‎‎
