โ— As NLA Opens Nat’l Feeding Weeks with Disabled Communities

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has commenced what they describe as a ‘National Feeding Day’ for people living with disabilities.โโ
The significant gesture to struggling people living with disabilities comes ahead of the mouthwatering Christmas season, a time of sharing and showing love.โโ
Director-General of the NLA,ย Peter L. Solo assures the Authority’s commitments to promoting the welfare of vulnerable citizens across the country.โโ
Set to kick off in Grand Cape Mount County this weekend, NLA Boss Solo said the Christmas charity will be given to the disabled, orphans, and the homeless as part of the NLA Festive.โโ
He assures NLA continuous support towards the welfare and well-being of disabled people.โโ
โTo our beneficiaries, this is the first time that the National Lottery Authority is catering to the disabled communities across Liberia, and I want to assure you we have not forgotten about you. We recognize your struggles, and we are committed to supporting you in any way we can,” Mr. Solo said.โโ
For his part, Rev. Peter B. Flomo, Executive Director of the National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NOUD), commended the NLA for the gesture but emphasized the need to go beyond just food distribution to disabled communities, stressing the need for empowerment, employment, and capacity building, which will enhance the lives of disabled people.โโ
โTo the NLA, this is just a new beginning, a new starting, where you need to go beyond the bands and do the needful for the needed,โ Rev. Flomo said.
โโIn Overview Mohammed S. Kamara, Director of Social Welfare, National Lottery Authority, announced the donation cut across at least 500 disabled organizations and institutions nationwide, captured in the NLA database.โโ
He mentioned Christmas Package will reach out to the disabled community, orphanage homes, public welfare and scientific institutions, old folks’ homes, charitable institutions, safe homes, and healthcare across the fifteen (15) counties.
โโAccording to him, it is the first time that the National Lottery Authority has carried out a nationwide food distribution to the disabled community for the festival season.
