— ‎Sen. Brown Clears Doubts As Saah Takes Over Senate Director Of Press Post

Senate Committee Chair on Rules,  Order and Administration, J. Gbleh-bo Brown of Maryland County has cleared the doubts of a handpicked Press Director of that body.‎

His clarification came when some members of the Senate Press Department called on the Senate Leadership to first give recruitment opportunities to staff who are within, prepared and not going outside looking for “outsiders.”‎

But speaking at the turning over ceremony of the director of Press of the Liberian Senate, Senator Brown said selection for the director was a tense process.‎

According to him, when the vacancy was created by the departure of the former Press Director, the Senate opted to have done an indoor recruitment but two persons from the department contended for the position. ‎

“We put it out for people to apply. The committee received 19 applications, some signed while others unsigned.” He noted.

The Maryland County Senator said they narrowed the number to the best five after which they went through an interview stating that the current director scored the highest of all.‎

Looking to the direction of Augustine Saah, Senator Brown said,  “Be proud because no Senator brought you here, your qualifications brought you here. We will do our best to make that department what it should be”.

He stated that the new director should apply leadership role in managing the affairs of the press office.

‎Augustine Saah officially took over as Director of the Liberian Senate press department on Monday, January 5, 2026.‎

Saah took over from Mrs. Bibiana B. Blay who acted as Director of Press at the Liberian Senate when Oscar Flomo Mulbah was appointed Minister by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai. ‎

In his remarks, he said that he will work with his colleagues to ensure that the work for which he was entrusted are done.‎

The newly appointed director added that he has not gone to the department as ‘know it all’ but will closely with his colleagues to ensure that the works of the Senate are done without problems.

“We have not come to the position with the mindset that we know it all”. He said.‎

He promised team spirit, reforms to help him and the team achieve the working of the Liberian Senate.
