Bong County-Roberto F. Koimenee Sr., Chief Executive Officer of the Koimenee Family Foundation and a son of Bong County District #7, has highlighted several challenges confronting residents of the district, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, roads, and community infrastructure.
Speaking on Premium FM in Gbarnga on Tuesday morning, September 15, Mr. Koimenee said his regular engagement with residents has exposed numerous concerns that, according to him, require urgent attention.
He said District #7 remains behind in terms of development, noting that the education sector is among the major areas of concern.
He said the condition of some facilities, including deteriorating ceilings, demonstrates the need for increased investment in the district’s healthcare infrastructure.
He cited ongoing work on a town hall project in one of the communities as an example of his foundation’s intervention.
Koimenee said the project followed concerns raised by residents, who complained about the deteriorating condition of their community town hall.
He explained that following a recreational tournament organized in the area during the July 26 Independence Day period, residents used the opportunity to appeal for assistance with the renovation of the facility.
According to him, his team is currently working to repair the building and provide additional chairs and other needed materials.
He also disclosed that residents in another community have requested assistance with a bridge that has become a major challenge for movement.
Koimenee said the road and bridge situation has affected transportation in the area for several years, making it difficult for vehicles to access the community.
He added that discussions are ongoing with his team to undertake interventions aimed at improving the situation.
Meanwhile, Koimenee has clarified that his community engagements and development interventions should not automatically be interpreted as an indication that he intends to contest the upcoming elections.
He said he previously moved around the district to understand the situation but stressed that he had not contested an election.
He emphasized that his current activities are driven by his relationship with residents and his desire to contribute to the development of his home district.
Koimenee also called for greater engagement between citizens and their elected lawmaker, urging residents not to give up on communicating their concerns to their representative.
He said citizens should continue to engage their lawmaker and demand accountability and representation because the person was elected to represent their interests.
