The Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu has described the preliminary and quarterfinal stages of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.
Minister Cole Bangalu said it is as excellent and successful, attributing these achievements to strong security measures, strict adherence to the rule of law, and key improvements in sports infrastructure.
Speaking recently in Monrovia, Minister Bangalu commended the coordinated efforts of the national security forces, noting that their professionalism and visibility have greatly enhanced safety at match venues nationwide.
He said these measures have ensured order before, during, and after matches, creating a secure environment for athletes, officials, and spectators.
The Minister highlighted the introduction of high-security feature tickets, which have effectively controlled access to playing venues and prevented overcrowding.
According to him, this innovation has significantly improved crowd management and enhanced the overall experience for fans.
Minister Bangalu also underscored the successful hosting of night games, describing it as a major national milestone.
He explained that night matches are now possible because of the installation of new digital LED floodlights, a long-awaited development realized after many years.
The Minister expressed gratitude to President Joseph N. Boakai for supporting and championing this achievement, noting that the floodlight installation represents a major step forward in modernizing Liberia’s sports infrastructure.
“We are playing night games today because of the installation of the new digital LED floodlights. This is a milestone achievement, and we thank President Boakai for making this possible” Minister Bangalu stated.
Another historic development, the Minister noted, is the introduction of round-robin matches at the quarterfinal stage for the first time in the history of the National County Sports Meet.
He explained that this format promotes fairness, competitiveness, and greater opportunity for counties to fully demonstrate their capabilities.
Minister Bangalu also frowned upon what he described as strategic negativity from individuals bent on creating negative perceptions.
He cautioned against the spread of misinformation and irresponsible commentary, urging critics to engage constructively rather than undermine national unity through sports.
The Youth and Sports Boss emphasized that the demonstration of the rule of law by the Ministry of Youth and Sports remains one of the most significant successes of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.
He reiterated that discipline, order, and respect for established regulations are essential to the integrity of the competition.
Minister Bangalu then called on all participants, county officials, team managers, supporters, and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the laws and rules governing the National County Sports Meet.
He stressed that collective compliance is key to sustaining peace, fairness, and continued progress in Liberian sports.
“The success of the National County Sports Meet belongs to all of us and it can only be sustained when everyone respects the rules.” He stressed.
