‎— Stipendiary Magistrate Cautioned Gbarnga City Corporation New Leadership

Gbarnga, Bong County – The Gbarnga City Corporation (GGC) has conducted its new City Council members, marking a significant milestone in the city’s governance and development.

‎‎The ceremony, which was attended by various stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, and citizens.‎‎

Cllr. Daniel Dolokelen, Stipendiary Magistrate of the Gbarnga Magisterial Court served as the keynote speaker thus calling on the new council members to work in the best interests of the city and its people.‎‎

He cautioned them to prioritize the needs of the community emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and good governance in the management of the city’s affairs.

‎‎”The City Council members must be transparent in their dealings, accountable to the people, and ensure that the city’s resources are used for the benefit of all citizens,” Cllr. Dolokelen said. ‎‎

The event provided an opportunity for the new City Council members to take their oath of office and pledge their commitment to serving the city and its people.‎‎

In his induction statement, Mr. George Philip Mulbah, Chairman of the Gbarnga City Council, spoke on the theme: “Recognition and Reconciliation Brings Peaceful Coexistence through Development.” ‎‎

He stressed the importance of these elements in fostering a harmonious and developmental environment within the city.‎‎

According to Mr. Mulbah, the Local Government Acts of 2018, Chapter 2, Subsection 2.1, Section 6b, grant legitimate status to county cities, such as Gbarnga, which is one of the fifteen sub-divisions of Bong County, established in 1964. ‎‎

He further explained that the national status provides the legal frameworks and administrative leadership, as outlined in Chapter 2, Sections 2.16 to 2.17, and other relevant instruments.‎‎

The induction of the new City Council members marks a new chapter in the governance of Gbarnga City, and citizens are optimistic about the prospects of development and progress under the new leadership.
