‎‎‎The preliminaries of the 2025 ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) Cup have wrapped up across Nimba, Bong and Grand Bassa counties, producing three champions ahead of next month’s tri-county finals.‎

In Nimba County, District Three claimed the title after a dramatic comeback and penalty shootout victory over District Eight on Sunday, Nov. 30, at Gompa Sports Stadium in Ganta.

‎District Eight struck first and appeared poised to clinch the championship, but District Three rallied late to force a shootout. They converted four spot-kicks to secure a 4–2 win.‎ District Three earned a $1,000 cash prize and will represent Nimba in the Championship finals alongside District Eight.

Both teams will meet the champions of Bong and Grand Bassa in what promises to be an intense showdown for regional supremacy.‎

In Bong County, District Six, captained by Tony Lucas Sumoward, emerged as champions. Sumoward scored twice in their 4–0 opening win over District Five and helped guide his side to the final after a 4–3 penalty victory over District Three.‎

On Sunday at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium, District Six took an early lead against District Seven. Although District Seven equalized, District Six restored their advantage and held on for a 2–1 win to claim the county title and a $1,000 prize. They advance to the championship final in Ganta.

‎In Grand Bassa County, District One sealed their place in the finals after a 3–1 victory over District Four at Doris Williams Stadium in Buchanan.

Elijah Reeves scored a hat trick for District One, while Samuel Moses and Joseph Barnard netted for District Four. District One will now travel to Ganta for the championship finals, set for Dec. 3–7, 2025.‎

ArcelorMittal Liberia is providing $6,000 in cash prizes for the district competitions. The company also supplied each of the 21 participating districts with $400 in preparatory support, two sets of branded kits and 25 pairs of boots.

‎Each county champion receives $1,000, while the overall tournament winner will take home $2,000. The runners-up will earn $1,000.
