Monrovia–The National Transit Authority (NTA) is pleased to announce that it will officially dedicate 20 newly acquired mini-buses and five cargo trucks today August 7, 2026 marking the successful completion of a landmark 60-vehicle fleet procurement project undertaken by the Government of Liberia through ABK Solutions
A release signed by Abayomi Tarplah Santi, Jr., Assistant Corporate Affairs Manager for Communications says the newly arrived vehicles represent the final batch of the fleet acquisition program and complement the 35 mass transit buses that were received earlier this year. Together, the 60 vehicles constitute one of the most significant investments in Liberia’s public transportation sector in recent years and underscore the Government’s commitment to improving safe, reliable, and affordable transportation services for the Liberian people.
The National Transit Authority says it extends its profound appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., for his unwavering support and commitment to revitalizing the country’s public transportation system. The Authority also recognized the dedication of the NTA team, ABK Solutions, and all partners whose collaboration made this important milestone possible.
The completion of this fleet acquisition represents a major step in the NTA’s ongoing transformation agenda. Looking ahead, the Authority is preparing to implement the digitalization of transit operations to enhance efficiency, accountability, and customer service. In addition, plans are underway to procure 46 additional mass transit buses to further expand transportation services and meet the growing needs of commuters across Liberia.
As part of its commitment to supporting economic growth and national development, the NTA will also introduce cargo transportation services using its newly acquired cargo trucks. The initiative will provide affordable transportation for commercial goods and construction materials throughout Liberia, with particular attention to reducing transportation costs to the southeastern region.
Speaking on the initiative, NTA Managing Director Edmund Forh Forh said the new cargo service is designed to ease the burden on businesses and improve the movement of goods across the country.
“If you are a business owner in Grand Gedeh, River Gee, or Maryland County, simply contact the NTA, and we will transport your goods at a minimal cost,” Mr. Forh stated.
He emphasized that lowering transportation costs will help reduce the cost of doing business, encourage commerce, facilitate the movement of essential goods and construction materials, and ultimately contribute to lowering the prices of goods and services for Liberians.
The official dedication ceremony on Friday will formally commission the 20 mini-buses and five cargo trucks into service, further expanding the NTA’s capacity to provide quality passenger transportation while introducing affordable cargo logistics services to support businesses and communities nationwide.
