Cestos, Rivercess -The City Major of Cestos City has embarked on what he termed as major developments that will change the city in the soonest possible future.‎‎

In an exclusive interview with The Local Daily, Mayor Mark T. Morton said as part of the plans for the changes, in the first week February of this year, they will commence construction of a modern welcome signboard stating that the old one doesn’t represent them as a people.

‎‎Discussions with engineers have begun and plans to meet with eminent sons and daughters have also started according to him. ‎‎

The Mayor placed the cost of the proposed project at 4,500 United States dollars, an amount he doesn’t have in full to begin the project. ‎‎

When asked how he would raise said amount, the Mayor said, “We intend using the little funds we have, also intend asking others like the local authorities, the office of the Superintendent, the citizens, the legislative caucus to help us in raising that money to enable us build a decent welcome”.

‎‎Not only is he concerned about the welcome signboard, but also wants to see the city clean and as part of their plans they also intend to modify the current city hall which is also not up to standard.‎‎

He said have started the painting of the exterior walls of the building, expected to expand it in the coming months by adding new offices.‎‎

As part of plans to give the city a good view, the mayor and his citizens have procured a tricycle to help clean the city, this is something that they never had.‎‎

Mayor Morton intoned that procurement of the tricycle will help give the city a facelift as he and his people have agreed to ensure that it is used to address waste management.‎‎

‎‎Just before the interview he has just concluded a meeting with the County Attorney and the discussion centered around opening a new branch that will attract tourists.

‎‎“If you look at our beach, it is a tourist site so we want to beautify the place so that when people visit this city, they will love going there” he said.‎

It is expected that by July of 2026, citizens will begin to see a transformation in the city as they have already carried electricity where the Atlantic Ocean and the Cestos River meet.

‎‎The city mayor decried open dedication on the beach which might be a major to the plan of attracting tourists.‎ But he has taken steps to curb it by sending offenders to court.‎‎

“Since we started, we have sent about five people to court and as long as I am there City Mayor, I will keep sending them to jail if they don’t stop defecating on the beach” he said.‎‎

Cestos is a city beautifully located between the Cestos River and Atlantic Ocean with beautiful beaches.‎

If care is given to the city, it could be one of the best sites to behold due to its natural environment.
