Bong-The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) has dedicated a new fire station and commissioned a fire truck in Bong County, marking a significant milestone in strengthening fire prevention, emergency response, and public safety in the county.
During the dedication and commissioning ceremony, the Director General of the Liberia National Fire Service, Col. G. Warsuwah Barvoul Sr., called on citizens of Bong County to work collectively with the Fire Service to protect and maintain the newly provided fire truck and station.
The Director General noted that, following Liberia’s fourteen-year civil crisis, Bong County has gone for decades without adequate fire-response equipment. He described the arrival of the fire truck and establishment of the station as an important step toward improving the protection of lives and property across the county.
Col. Barvoul encouraged citizens to cooperate with firefighters during emergencies and urged the people of Bong County to put aside their differences and work together for the development of the county.
“A better Bong County depends on us all” the Fire Service boss said.
The Director General further emphasized that the Liberia National Fire Service will prioritize qualified citizens of Bong County when recruitment begins for the local fire detachment. He stated that qualified residents of the county will have the opportunity to serve and uphold the dignity and professional standards of the Liberia National Fire Service.
Meanwhile, Senator Prince Moye of Bong County, who took the initiative to support the construction of the fire station in collaboration with the Liberia National Fire Service, called on citizens to put politics aside and focus on initiatives that promote the development and well-being of the people.
Senator Moye emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that the new facility and equipment serve the people of Bong County effectively.
The Liberia National Fire Service also reminds citizens that fire does not recognize names, positions, titles, or political affiliations. Anyone can be affected by a fire emergency at any time. For this reason, communities must work together to prevent fires, respond responsibly during emergencies, and support firefighters in protecting lives and property.
Since the establishment of Bong County in 1964, today’s dedication represents a new chapter in public safety and emergency response.
