With just 15 days into the much anticipated traditional festival, the National County Sports Meet, several counties have signed players from both 1st & 2nd Division of the Liberia Football Association. But among those county is Grand Bassa who is yet to sign neither of those players.
This was made known when the county’s technical arm confirmed that the county has not initiated any negotiations with first- or second-division players for the December National County Sports Meet.
Instead, officials say the current phase is fully centered on evaluating standout prospects from the third division despite their position in recent county meets.
Accordingly, the Bassa technical team is conducting a rigorous justification and assessment process as part of a structured, step-by-step approach to building a competitive squad.
The focus, they said, is on identifying raw, in-form talent capable of making an immediate impact.
The department emphasized that first- and second-division players will be brought into the process later.
Securing those athletes is regarded as the simplest phase of recruitment, making early engagement unnecessary at this stage.
For now, Grand Bassa remains deeply invested in finalizing its selections from the third division as the county works to assemble a balanced and formidable team for the tournament.
Grand Bassa is the host for Group C where they will welcome defending champions Lofa County, Grand Gedeh and Grand Cape Mount Counties.
Much has not been done as the one time double champion tested the team’s ability during the recent SKD Floodlights Exhibition Match against Montserrado County and we’re narrowly defeated one goal to zero.
