The Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), J. Cyrus Saygbe Sr., has called on fish importers, inspectors, and stakeholders across the fisheries value chain to uphold continuous fish quality assurance standards to safeguard consumer health and strengthen Liberia’s fisheries sector.

Speaking at the close of a four-day Fish Quality Assurance Workshop, the Director General emphasized that quality assurance is both a public health responsibility and an economic imperative.

“Safe, high-quality fish products protect consumers, strengthen food security, build public confidence, and create opportunities for trade and investment,” he stated.

Workshop facilitator Dr. Amadou Tall urged participants to apply the knowledge gained and serve as champions of food safety and fish quality assurance nationwide.

The training equipped fish importers, inspectors, and fisheries professionals with enhanced skills in food safety, quality control systems, and best practices in fish quality management, reinforcing NaFAA’s commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality fish products for all Liberians.
