Monrovia-The Grassroots Impact Movement Initiative (GIMI) Worldwide has announced the appointment of renowned humanitarian, educator, and youth advocate, Amb. Dr. Agnes Fortune-Cannon, as its new International Director of Humanitarian Affairs, effective July 9, 2026.
The appointment announced by the President General of GIMI Worldwide, Dr. Lawson Tom, recognizes Amb. Dr. Fortune-Cannon’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication to humanitarian service, and remarkable contributions to community development and global advocacy.
In an official statement, Dr. Tom described the appointment as a reflection of the confidence the organization has in Amb. Dr. Fortune-Cannon’s ability to lead its humanitarian agenda at the international level.
He praised her outstanding record of service, noting that her integrity, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people have earned her respect both nationally and internationally.

As International Director of Humanitarian Affairs, Amb. Dr. Fortune-Cannon will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for GIMI Worldwide’s global humanitarian programmes.
She is also expected to strengthen partnerships with international organizations, governments, civil society institutions, and development partners while advancing the organization’s mission of empowering communities and transforming lives across the world.
Her responsibilities will include promoting humanitarian initiatives, supporting vulnerable communities, coordinating international relief and development programmes, and encouraging collaboration aimed at addressing social and humanitarian challenges in different countries.

Amb. Dr. Fortune-Cannon is widely recognized for her work as an educator, youth developer, humanitarian advocate, and community leader.
