‎‎The County Accountability and Advocacy Team (CAAT) wrapped up a productive daylong forum on November 20, 2025, in Buchanan, aimed at fostering transparency and accountability among local government officials. ‎‎

The event, held at the County Youth & Sports Office on the Fairgrounds, brought together a diverse group of participants, including students, advocacy groups, media representatives, and key local officials.‎‎

CAAT, an organization trained by NAYMOTE in “Social Accountability & Monitoring” (SAM), its mission is to empower citizens to hold public officials accountable for the implementation and expenditure of public projects at the county level. ‎‎

The forum provided a platform for local leaders, including Grand Bassa County Development Officer Moses Gbehzohn Henry, the Coordinator of the Grand Bassa Service Center and General Secretary of the County Council to present updates on various projects and respond to community inquiries.

‎‎Numen Wheaton, the County Coordinator of CAAT, emphasized the importance of the gathering, stating that it aimed to unveil recent projects captured by CAAT that were undertaken by the county leadership, so that the County Leaders would clarify how public funds are being utilized.

‎‎This initiative is part of a broader effort by NAYMOTE and its partners to ensure that every Liberian benefits from the country’s natural resources through responsible governance.‎‎

The event was marked by constructive dialogue, with local officials providing justifications for their projects and addressing citizens’ questions. ‎‎

This engagement signifies a significant step towards enhancing civic participation and ensuring that public funds are spent effectively for the benefit of all.
