Monrovia -‎The Government of Liberia has officially broken ground for the construction of a modern Ministry of Justice Complex near the Executive Mansion, Capitol Hill, Monrovia.

‎‎The project marks a significant step toward strengthening public institutions and improving service delivery across the justice and security sectors.

‎‎Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Thursday, January 29, 2026, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in state institutions that reflect the dignity, sovereignty, and authority of the Liberian state. ‎‎

He assured stakeholders that the government will provide full support to ensure the project is completed as planned.‎‎

Minister of Justice, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, described the project as a historic milestone for Liberia’s justice and security architecture.‎‎

He emphasized that the complex will offer a centralized, modern, and functional workspace for key institutions, including the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, the Liberia National Fire Service, the Liberia Immigration Service, and the Witness Protection Agency.‎‎

According to him, the project is firmly aligned with the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which serves as Liberia’s national development framework.‎‎

Cllr. Tweh further disclosed that the Government of Liberia has demonstrated its commitment by placing twenty million United States dollars (US$20,000.00) toward this project in the ARREST Agenda.‎‎

The groundbreaking ceremony attracted several high-ranking government officials, among them Minister of Finance and Development Planning Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and Senator Thomas Yaya Nimiley, representing the Senate Committee on National Security.
