-Gov’t Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment and Skills Development
Gbarnga, Bong County-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has officially launched the Cadet Program in Bong County, in an effort to strengthen youth development, national service participation, and skills training across the country.
The program, which also included the launch of the second batch of the National Cadet under the National Youth Pathway Program (NYPP), was held at the Gbarnga Administrative Building in Gbarnga City, Bong County. It brought together government officials, local authorities, youth leaders, and invited guests from across the county.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah emphasized the importance of discipline, leadership, and commitment among young people selected for the cadet initiative.
She encouraged participants to take the program seriously, describing it as a valuable opportunity to build character and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Minister Kruah noted that the cadet program is designed to prepare young Liberians for leadership roles within public institutions and communities, stressing that youth empowerment remains a top priority of the government.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan II, officially declared the Cadet Program open.
Minister Nyafuan highlighted that the initiative forms part of a broader national strategy aimed at equipping young people with practical skills, discipline, and exposure to public service.
He urged participants to remain focused and dedicated, stating that the success of the program depends on their commitment and willingness to learn.
The launch was met with enthusiasm from participants, while local officials in Bong County welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to reduce youth unemployment and strengthen civic engagement.
