The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) on Friday deleted a press release from its official Facebook page announcing the arrest of Liberian musician Karwoudou Cole, popularly known as Bucky Raw.
The removed post, titled “LDEA Executes Search Warrant, Arrests Musician Bucky Raw and Others, claimed officers had detained the artist and several others during a “Clean Wave” operation at his Duport Road residence around 7:00 a.m.
The statement said the suspects were undergoing investigation and would face court proceedings, adding that drug offenses in Liberia are non-bailable-contrary, the agency noted, to claims circulating on social media.
Shortly after the post appeared, it was taken down without explanation.
Attempts by The Local Daily to contact LDEA authorities on 07771 33333 but the calls went unanswered.
Meanwhile, Bucky Raw posted on his official Facebook page that he had been released and was preparing for a scheduled performance in Paynesville.
He strongly dismissed reports linking him to drug activities, saying a video of LDEA agents entering his home during a livestream had fueled false narratives.
The musician said he has long been a target in the entertainment industry, with individuals seeking to undermine his progress, especially ahead of major events.
He added that opponents were even planning a rival show at the same venue as his scheduled performance.
Acknowledging Liberia’s ongoing drug crisis, Bucky Raw said he has worked to support anti-drug efforts and should not be judged by a past he has moved beyond.
He insisted he is not involved in any illegal activity and urged the media to avoid amplifying unverified claims.Despite the controversy, he vowed to proceed with his show, saying, “We are not stopping anything.”
