President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., has officially nominated Mr. J. Cyrus Saygbe, Sr. as the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) a release from the Executive Manson says.‎‎

Mr.Saygbe has been serving in an acting capacity since May 2025, following the suspension of Ms. Emma Glasco.‎

In his acting role, he has overseen key initiatives aimed at strengthening Liberia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing regulatory compliance.

‎‎Announcing the nomination, President Boakai expressed the confidence that Mr. Saygbe’s leadership and experience will further consolidate the gains made in the sector, enhance productivity, and contribute to national economic development.‎‎

The Liberian leader encouraged all stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture industry to support Mr. Saygbe in his new role upon confirmation as the Government continues to prioritize sustainable management and growth of Liberia’s aquatic resources.

‎‎The release said, “ This nomination is subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.”
