President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and the Unity Party (UP) administration risk losing the majority of votes in Nimba County from local farmers in the forthcoming 2029 presidential election if he doesn’t dismiss Agriculture Minister Alexander Nuetah.‎‎

Dozens of local farmers here threaten to vote against President Boakai if he doesn’t dismiss his agricultural minister.‎‎

Speaking on the sideline of the National Infrastructure Conference in Gompa City, Nimba County, Monday, 19th January 2026, the local farmers warned the 2029 election could haunt the Unity Party if Minister Nuetah continues as Agriculture Minister.‎‎

They demanded the dismissal of Minister Nuetah over what they described as a lack of leadership skills in transforming the sector.‎‎

Gabriel Roberts, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of American Global Industrial Group of Companies and head of the group of local farmers, accuses Minister Nuetah of fighting against local farmers rather than seeking their interest.

‎‎“Minister Nuetah should be dismissed because he is not the right messenger to convey the fruits from this sector,” Roberts said.‎‎

The Minister of Agriculture is only there protecting Jetty and Firestone Rubber Plantation and not seeking our interest, Roberts said.‎‎

He told reporters, Minister Nuetah is unfit to lead a sector that has the potential of economic transformation.‎‎

According to Roberts, the minister has succeeded in bringing subcharges on rubber to discourage Liberians adding that Nuetah is selfish, unfit to lead, and a boyball to Jetty and Firestone, Roberts, and slams.‎‎

He alleged that Agriculture Minister Alexander Nuateh has aligned with major foreign agricultural companies while sidelining Liberian ones that are striving to grow.‎‎

“Such practices are gradually pushing indigenous agricultural businesses out of the sector, weakening local production and undermining the livelihoods of thousands of farmers,” Roberts warned.‎‎

In the local voices inquiry to Minister Nuetah to respond to these allegations, Minister Nuetah cited that the farmers should continue their push.

‎‎“Let them do whatever they want,” Minister Nuetah wrote to local voices inquiries via WhatsApp.
