Monrovia-The House of Representatives on Thursday formally endorsed the Youth Legislative Caucus, a bipartisan body set up to coordinate lawmakers on issues affecting young Liberians.

The caucus was created after months of collaboration between the House, the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), and partners including the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD). It will provide a regular channel for dialogue between legislators and youth groups across the country.

Montserrado County District nine Representative, Frank Saah Foko was appointed by the House of Representatives to chair  the new caucus.

In remarks, Foko considered the new caucus as a bridge between the legislature and youth constituencies and urged bipartisan cooperation.

Representative Steve Tequah, who chairs the House Committee on Youth and Sports said the caucus offers an institutional way for youth to participate in governance.

For his part, the president of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) Ernest Duku Jallah welcomed the move, saying the caucus gives young people a stronger, coordinated voice in shaping policies on employment, education, entrepreneurship, governance, and reforms.
