Monrovia -The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) has condemned the bullying, disparaging remarks, and derogatory commentary directed at the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Madam Cornelia Kruah, following her recent appointment by President Joseph Boakai.‎‎

The Ministry rejects any form of online harassment or intimidation aimed at a young, dynamic, and enterprising Liberian woman or any Liberian woman. Such behavior is unacceptable, demeaning, and counterproductive that undermines the immense potential and contributions of women in leadership.‎‎

While constructive criticism and informed public discourse are essential pillars of democracy, personal attacks, harassment, or prejudices, the ministry notes particularly those rooted in gender stereotypes have no place in our society.

‎‎According to the ministry’s release, such conduct discourages women and young people from pursuing public service and erodes national efforts toward inclusive, equitable, and transformative leadership.

‎‎At the same time, the Ministry stands in unwavering solidarity with Minister Kruah, a dedicated Liberian public servant and advocate for youth and women’s empowerment, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of women and girls in leadership and across all sectors of Liberian society.

‎‎”We warmly congratulate Minister Cornelia Kruah on her historic appointment as the youngest Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Liberia remains a signatory to several international protocols that affirm the right of all citizens, women and men alike, to participate in public life free from discrimination, intimidation, or abuse.” The release quoted.‎‎

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has lauded President Joseph N. Boakai, for appointing another woman to a senior government position. ‎‎

The appointment of Minister Kruah according to the ministry further reaffirms the President’s steadfast commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive leadership within his administration.‎‎

The Ministry urges all citizens and media practitioners to exercise restraint and collectively nurture a culture of leadership evaluated by competence, integrity, and dedicated service, rather than by gender, age, or personal attacks.
