‎—As New Headquarters Risk Demolition In the Wake of Plans Tubman Boulevard Road Expansion

Monrovia -The Government of Liberia has announced plans to expand the Tubman Boulevard Road to six lanes (three in each direction), with several buildings expected to be affected by a large-scale demolition exercise an announcement that seems to be another setback for opposition CDC.‎

Speaking at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Roland Giddings, Minister of Public Works, said that the project is expected to commence in mid 2027.‎‎

Among the key structures that are expected to be affected and risk the demolition process if the government proceeds with the expansion project is the new headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change, which is currently under construction located just a few meters from the pavement of the main boulevard road. ‎‎

At present, construction work at the headquarters is ongoing, with much of the activity reportedly taking place at night.‎‎

It can be recalled in 2025, CDC headquarters in Congo Town was demolished after several legal battles with the property owner.
