‎— Sentences Self Proclaimed ‎Prophet To Jail For Six Months

Monrovia -The Supreme Court of Liberia has set a precedent by sending Justin Oldpa Yeazeh, widely known as Prophet Key, to six months imprisonment at the Monrovia Central Prison(South Beach) after being found guilty of criminal contempt by the Supreme Court of Liberia.

‎‎The ruling follows court proceedings in which Prophet Key admitted to using abusive language directed at the Chief Justice and the Liberian judicial system.

‎‎In addition to the prison sentence, the Supreme Court ordered Prophet Key to publish a formal letter of apology in five newspapers, sign a bond of good behavior, pledging to refrain from using abusive or inflammatory language against any Liberian citizen.

‎‎The decision has reignited debate over the limits of free expression under Article 15 of the Liberian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech but places responsibility on individuals for its abuse.

‎‎The Supreme Court emphasized that while criticism of public officials is constitutionally protected, actions that undermine the authority and dignity of the judiciary may attract criminal sanction.‎

This is not the first time for him to be taken to court for raining insults, mainly females.‎

As he was being taken to prison, some women were heard saying, “It is our God that caught you.” ‎He was seen crying as he was being taken away.‎“ I am too happy for this man to even go to jail for three years,” another woman said.‎

Another female, an elderly woman, said, “I am so happy about this decision. Thank God for this decision.”
