Suakoko, Bong- As part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in Bong County, Electoral District #5 Representative Eugene J.M. Kollie has donated assorted medical supplies to Phebe Hospital in Suakoko District.
The donated items include 30 mattresses, 127 cartons of cough suppressant, 30 cartons of alcohol antiseptic, 50 cartons of hospital gloves, 27 cartons of lice treatment solution, 13 cartons of energy-saving and fluorescent bulbs, 50 cartons of anti-itch cream, 50 cartons of disposable gowns, and four chairs, among other medical materials.
Speaking during the presentation on Monday, March 2, 2026, Rep. Kollie said the gesture was prompted by a recent visit he made to the facility amid protest actions by aggrieved health workers. According to him, the tour revealed significant shortages of essential medical supplies needed to enhance the hospital’s operations.He noted that supporting health institutions within his district remains a priority, particularly at a time when access to adequate medical materials is critical to service delivery.Receiving the items, the Medical Director of Phebe Hospital, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo-Ricks, expressed appreciation for what she described as a timely intervention. She specifically acknowledged the donation of hospital mattresses and chairs, emphasizing that patient comfort and proper ward management are key components of effective healthcare delivery.Dr. Sankawulo-Ricks further stated that Phebe Hospital serves a large population in Suakoko District and surrounding communities, functioning as a major referral center in Bong County. She stressed that collaboration with lawmakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders remains vital in addressing gaps in medical supplies and infrastructure to improve healthcare outcomes across the Bong County.
