-Empowers Women Through Tailoring Skills

The Believers Eastern Church of Liberia, through its Community Transformation Program (CTP), is meeting the physical needs of believers by providing skills training for them.

The church launched a life-changing Tailoring Skills Training Program in Doe and Matadi Communities, Montserrado County.

The initiative aims at empowering women with practical tailoring and business skills, while nurturing spiritual growth and community development among the most vulnerable.

The first phase of the program was inaugurated in Doe Community on October 29, 2025, in a ceremony marked by songs, prayers, and heartfelt thanksgiving.

Residents, faith leaders, and government officials joined in celebrating a new beginning for local women seeking to overcome poverty through honest work and faith.

“This training is not just about stitching clothes, it’s about stitching hope into lives and faith into futures,” Father Sachin Pakhre, Country Director of Believers Eastern Church Liberia said.

He furthered, “True transformation begins when people discover the gifts God has placed within them.”

The program’s first cohort of 23 mothers will undergo six months of intensive training in tailoring and basic entrepreneurship, enabling them to start small businesses and support their families.

Montserrado County Superintendent Whroway Bryant, who attended the ceremony alongside other community leaders, commended the church’s initiative by saying, “This is not just training, it is transformation. We are grateful to Believers Eastern Church for sowing seeds of hope and helping our mothers stand on their own feet.”

Also in Doe Community, the second phase of the Tailoring Skills Training Program was launched in Matadi Community on October 30, 2025.

The expansion reflects the church’s commitment to creating long-term change by combining skill development, job creation, and spiritual mentorship.

Addressing the new participants, Pastor Joseph V. Washington Sherman emphasized the importance of stewardship and faith in personal development: “In six months, while your teachers are training you, I will be sitting with you to help you understand how God’s resources should be used and how blessings should be shared.”

“We are not just teaching tailoring,” Father Sachin said. “We are shaping futures, building communities, and revealing the heart of God to His people.”

As the hum of sewing machines fills the air in Doe and Matadi Communities, the message is clear: Believers Eastern Church is making a difference one life, one family, one community at a time.
