-Threaten To Paralyze BMMC’s Operations If…

Citizens of the Matambo Corridor, Mendimasa and Seimavula Clans, Grand Cape Mount County, are demanding the payment of their 2024 Clans Development fund, in the tune of 150,000.00.

The demand was made in a mass citizens meeting with their direct representative, Gbessay Sonii Fakai who represents Grand Cape Mount County Electoral District three.

In the meeting, the citizens were told that the 2025 clans development fund from the Bea Mountain Mining Company Management is being placed in the account.

Since the 2025 clans development funds were being placed the community’s account, they were concerned about what happened to the money from 2024.

The citizens questioned their Lawmaker about what has happened to the 2024 150,000.00.

They raised a series of issues requesting their first 150,000.00. be paid along with the current funds expected from the Bea Mountain Mining Company (BMMC).

Responding to her citizens’ concerns, Representative Sonii-Fakai said she’s also concerned about the clan’s development fund for the period of 2024.

The lawmaker claims that prior to her travels to the United States, discussions surrounding the 2024 Matambo corridor clans development fund with the BMMC Management were initiated, but since her return, no one has briefed her on anything of said fund.

She informed her people that she has questioned the company’s management about said fund, but the management informed her that they know nothing about it.

The meeting ended with a resolution to officially write to the company and demand for the payment of their 2024 clan’s development fund.

They threatened that failure on the part of the company to comply, they, the owners of the natural resources, will paralyze the company’s operation.
