A citizen of Grand Cape Mount County is joining efforts with the government’s ARREST Agenda by embarking on an agricultural initiative in that part of Liberia.
In an effort to boost food security, an eminent son of Tewor District, D. Boima Jalibah’s agriculture project is expected to touch four of the clans in District.
Each of the four clans is expected to cultivate 100 acres of farmland for rice production.
Mr. Jalibah told the citizens of those clans that he will provide all of the farming materials including the rice seedlings, regular food assistance, soup kinds with a little compensation for those who will be selected to clear project sites in each of the clan.
Mr. Jalibah informed the citizens of Getaweh Clan, Bomah Getaweh, the clan headquarter in a meeting that his vision is to buttress the government ARREST Agenda, which Agriculture is key.
He added that he is going to be providing all of what it takes to get the project started with an intention ensuring that citizens of that part of Liberia can feel themselves, something he said would help the government reduce the high importation of Liberia’s staple food, rice.
In response to Mr. Jalibah’s agriculture project initiative proposal, the citizens of Getaweh clan overwhelmingly accepted and assured him of their fullest support.
The chiefs, elderly, young people including women, all welcomed the idea indicating that farming is the only way of their survival and through that, they sent their children to school.
Getaweh consists of seven towns with families who have lived on farming for years.
Other clans expected to roll out Mr. Jalibah’s agriculture project are Kromah, Fahnbulleh and Sambola clans.
