The recent report by DCP. Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, the Officer-In-Charge of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has clearly indicated two major zones of drug busts in Montserrado County.

‎According to DCP. Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, Bushrod Island and the City of Paynesville are the two major hotspots for drug traffickers and users.

‎Biago said the two zones have been placed under what he termed a “red zone,” adding that eyes, focus, and attention will be drawn to them in the future.

‎”Our intelligence and operational reports indicate that Bushrod Island and the City of Paynesville are the major drug hotspots in Montserrado County.  We call on all officers to wear their microscopic glasses as the time is now to chase out those bogus dealers, traffickers and even users”. LDEA OIC noted.

‎At the same time, Grand Cape Mount and Sinoe Counties have been named the highest seizure rates of drugs in the leeward regions.

‎Deputy Commissioner Fitzgerald T.M. Biago stressed the need for more robust logistics and equipment in tackling this deadly disease and called on officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties.

‎He announced that the estimated street value of all drugs confiscated during the period amounts to L$40,671,401.50 (Forty Million, Six Hundred Seventy-One Thousand, Four Hundred One Dollars, Fifty Cents) which is equivalent to approximately US$218,790.85 which include 395 grams of Cocaine, Heroin 147.6 grams, Kush 5, 124 grams, Marijuana 4, 127 kilograms, and Tramadol 111, 378 Pills.

‎The confiscated drugs are expected to be brought to the Disco Hill in Margibi County on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

‎Meanwhile, the interim leadership of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has lauded the government for providing huge logistical support to the entity.

‎OIC Biago said the supports have been deployed nationwide and are significantly enhancing the operational effectiveness.

‎While the agency continues to battle traffickers and distributors, preventive mechanisms are also focused on designing and sustaining grassroots awareness and strengthening collaboration between communities and the LDEA.
