Bishop J. Nimely Donyen, Head of the Independent Catholic Church of Liberia, has donated construction materials and cash to support the reconstruction of the Zone 9, Depot 4 Police Station in the Rehab Community.
The police depot was destroyed by fire in December 2025, leaving residents without a nearby security post and exposing the community to increased criminal activities.
Since the incident, locals have raised concerns over safety and the lack of police presence.
The donation was officially presented on Wednesday at the site of the burned facility.
Bishop Donyen said his decision to assist followed an appeal from community residents seeking help to rebuild the critical security infrastructure.
He disclosed that the initiative is not just about constructing a building, but about fostering a sense of unity and support within the community.
Livingstone Johnny Gbellai, General Chairman of the Du-Neezoe Ten Communities and a representative of Montserrado County District #2, praised the Bishop’s timely intervention, describing it as a major relief for residents.
A detailed breakdown of the donated items includes 1,500 cement bricks, zinc sheets, assorted planks, nails, construction tools, and US$500 in cash to support ongoing reconstruction efforts.
Since the fire incident, the Rehab Community has experienced growing security challenges due to the absence of the police depot.
Community members expressed confidence that with the materials now available, reconstruction will move quickly and the facility will soon be restored.
