Monrovia -Nimba County has officially unveiled the Nimba Sports Lodge, also known as Nimba House, in Cybrise, Montserrado County, marking a significant milestone in the countyโs efforts to strengthen sports development and improve the welfare of its athletes.โโ
The colorful unveiling ceremony brought together county officials, lawmakers, sports administrators, athletes, and supporters.
The lodge is intended to serve as a dedicated accommodation facility for Nimba County teams participating in major sporting events hosted in Monrovia.โโ
It was followed by Nimba Countyโs historic victory at the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet, where the countyโs football team clinched the championship title.
Triumph makes Nimba the only county to have won the prestigious tournament seven times since its inception.โโ
Speaking at the program, Nimba County Superintendent Madam Kou Meapeh Gono praised the athletes for their discipline, resilience, and commitment, describing the lodge as both a reward for past achievements and a long-term investment in youth development.โโ
โSports have always united the people of Nimba beyond politics, ethnicity, and geography. This lodge is not just a building; it represents our commitment to providing comfort, dignity, and motivation for our athletes who continue to make us proud.โโโ Superintendent Gono noted.
She noted that the facility will accommodate football, kickball, basketball, and other county teams during competitions held in Montserrado County.โโ
Several Nimba County lawmakers in attendance reaffirmed their commitment to advancing sports development in the county, attributing Nimbaโs consistent success to unity, planning, and sustained investment in young talent.
โโRepresentative Kortor Sehwongbay Kwagrue described the football teamโs seventh championship title as a legacy achievement for the county.
โโโNimba County has shown that when we believe in our young people, excellence is achievable. We will continue to support initiatives that empower athletes and promote peace and unity through sports.โโโ Rep. Sehwongbay Kwagrue added.
County officials also commended Nimbaโs overall performance at the National County Sports Meet.
In addition to the football teamโs championship victory, the kickball team finished third, while the basketball team placed second, underscoring the countyโs strength across multiple sporting disciplines.โโ
